Photobombing a Senior Photo Session

We see a young woman posing seated on concrete rip-rap under the Blue Water Bridges in Port Huron, Michgan. She is seated with her knees drawn up, feeting pointing to the left, with her elbows in her knees and hands hang out toward her feet. She has her head tilted and turned to look directly at us. We also see a back 3/4 head and shoulders view of a woman with a SLR camera taking the young woman's picture.

Actually this scene is a much more common occurrence during a wedding. Everybody figures that since the event photog has corralled all the appropriate participants, posed them, and lit the scene, they should jump in and grab the pic themselves. I can’t tell you how many images I’ve lost to flashes going off from other camera as I was taking my portrait. I finally ended up with a little speech about how the bridal couple had hired me to take the photos, that their flashes were ruining my shots and to please wait until I was done before they tried to take pictures. I’d then move right into the next posed portrait. It’s a difficult time to round up the member of the wedding party because all they want to do is get to the reception where they can let loose and relax. Ah, those were the days . . .

The starting image for this September PFCC Challenge was the lady with the camera and crazy hair from Unsplash.. I separated her from the original background and placed her in front of one of my senior photos of the lovely Ashly. I placed CH off to one side so it would look like she was trying to steal my picture with a photobomb.

    Take care and stay well!
